• Prepare one opera aria in a language besides English. It can be any style or era, as long as it’s from the classical opera repertoire (as opposed to musical theater.) This song must be performed by memory.

• Bring an accompaniment track with which you’re comfortable singing. There will be a speaker, and you can connect with it with a smart phone, laptop, or USB thumb drive.

• Be prepared to sight-sing a simple passage of music, which will be provided.

• You’ll also be asked to sing a simple English art song, which we’ll provide to you in advance of the audition so you’ll have time to learn it. You will be able to perform it with music and with provided live piano accompaniment, so no need to memorize it.

• Bring a recent resume and headshot, if possible.

Things to Know

• All roles offered (including chorus) are paid positions.

• All rehearsals will be in Fallbrook at the Cinballera headquarters.

• Rehearsals for Il Tabarro begin in mid-May and will be weekly for two months leading up to the show on July 19.

• Rehearsals will be on Friday evenings or Saturday afternoons, beginning on May 22 or 23. Please only apply if you’re able to make it to one of those days for the majority of the applicable dates during the rehearsal period.

• Check out the map below to see where the Cinballera headquarters is located. Fallbrook is in North San Diego County, halfway between Escondido and Temecula off the 15 freeway. This is where the auditions and rehearsals will be held, so make sure you’re comfortable driving there before signing up.
